Clarity Counselling offers specialized, evidence-based virtual therapy across seven core areas. Each section below outlines the approach — for a deeper, educational look at any topic, follow the linked guide. Sessions are primarily virtual; limited in-person sessions are available in Calgary by appointment.
Complex Trauma & Dissociation Therapy
If you've experienced repeated or prolonged trauma — and you're dealing with emotional dysregulation, a fractured sense of self, or feeling disconnected from your body or surroundings — you don't have to piece together an approach to healing on your own. Clarity Counselling offers specialized, phase-oriented treatment for complex trauma and the dissociation spectrum, from occasional "spacing out" to depersonalization to more complex presentations. Jason Chang is TIST-certified (Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment) and extensively trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and somatic approaches — building safety and stability first, always at a pace that's genuinely sustainable for you. Sessions are virtual, serving clients throughout Western Canada.

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) Therapy
Most of the people who come to Clarity Counselling are looking for a therapist who genuinely understands Dissociative Identity Disorder — not just general trauma training, but specific experience working with systems of parts. Jason Chang brings deep, specialized training in Internal Family Systems (including direct training with Richard Schwartz and Frank Anderson), Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment, and EMDR carefully adapted for dissociative presentations. Treatment focuses on building internal cooperation and safety across your whole system — never rushing, never pathologizing your parts. Sessions are virtual, serving clients throughout Western Canada.

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Therapy
BPD is one of the more treatable personality disorders — with the right approach, most people see real, lasting improvement in emotional regulation, relationships, and sense of self. Clarity Counselling draws on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, EMDR, Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to address both the roots of BPD and its everyday impact — for individuals, and for couples navigating BPD's effect on their relationship together, using the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Sessions are virtual, serving clients throughout Western Canada.

Anxiety Therapy
Whether it's generalized worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, or anxiety rooted in past trauma, effective treatment can bring real, lasting relief — often faster than people expect. Clarity Counselling uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR, DBT-informed skills, and somatic approaches to treat anxiety, with particular attention to anxiety connected to trauma, dissociation, or relationship patterns. Sessions are virtual, serving clients throughout Western Canada.

EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based treatment recognized by the World Health Organization and American Psychological Association as a frontline treatment for trauma — often producing meaningful relief in fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy. Jason Chang is EMDR-trained and experienced adapting EMDR for complex trauma, BPD, and dissociative presentations — pacing treatment to what's genuinely safe and stabilizing for you, never a one-size-fits-all protocol. Sessions are virtual, serving clients throughout Western Canada.

Couples Counselling
Whether you're rebuilding trust after betrayal, caught in constant conflict, or feeling more like roommates than partners, couples counselling gives you a structured way to understand the pattern between you and change it. Clarity Counselling draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and trauma-informed approaches — working with the dynamic between two people rather than assigning fault. Sessions are virtual, serving couples throughout Western Canada.

Anger & Emotional Withdrawal in Men
For men whose anger or emotional distance is straining a relationship, the real work usually isn't about anger management — it's about the fear and shame underneath it. Clarity Counselling uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to identify and interrupt the pursue-withdraw cycle driving the pattern, addressing what's actually firing the reaction rather than just managing it after the fact. Sessions are virtual, serving men throughout Western Canada.
